Dan & Russ co. is bringing you to the far east. Boba tea, also popularly known as "Bubble Tea" in the orient, is a famous refreshing drink. Originated from Taiwan in the early 1980s, this drink quickly spread throughout the world. The chewy boba, otherwise known as pearls, are made from tapioca. Traditionally, large boba is mixed with milk tea. It then evolved into all sorts of delicious drinks.
This London Fog Boba recipe is not too sweet and it totally brings out the perfect bergamot taste of Dan & Russ' Classic Earl Grey. Here is our take on this modification of the famous drink:
Ingredients (For 2)
- 1/2 cup of boba (I used the one from our local Asian supermarket. You can also make your own as well)
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1/8 cup of water (For the syrup)
- 3 tablespoons Dan & Russ' Class Earl Grey (Brew with a cup of hot water)
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
1) Brew up a cup of Classic Earl Grey tea. If you like stronger taste, use 4 tablespoons. Put them in the fridge for couple hours with the tea leaves or overnight. This will keep the Earl Grey tea nice and strong.
2) In a pot of boiling water, boil the boba. As mentioned above, I used boba from my local Asian supermarket. You could of course make your own and there are plenty of recipe online to do so. If you were to use boba from supermarket, follow the instructions as listed on the package as the timing is different.
3) Drain all water from the boba. Run it with cold water to temporary stop the cooking process.
4) Heat up ¼ cup brown sugar with 1/8 cup of water to make a sugar syrup. If you like a bit more sweetness to your drink, use 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Once all the sugar dissolved and the syrup thicken, turn off your stovetop and put all the boba into the syrup. Mix it around so all the boba is covered with the shinny and gorgeous syrup.
5) This is the most exciting part! Add some boba to the bottom of the cup, Layered some ice, cold Earl Grey Tea, and top it with some milk. Substitute milk with creamier of you like a more creamy top.
We hope you enjoy this wonderful drink. Perfect for any time of the day; any day of the year. Check out our Classic Earl Grey tea in our shop.
